About me

I am a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow and Teaching Assistant at CIMeC, Center for Mind/Brain Sciences, University of Trento (Italy), and a member of the CIMeC BabyLab. Starting in May 2026, I will join SISSA (Trieste, Italy) as an Assistant Professor in Cognitive Neuroscience.

Research interests

Human communication evolved, is learned, and is often implemented through multiple information channels across the senses. Critically, due to the disconnection between linguists, psychologists and neuroscientists, traditional neurocognitive research on language maintains an artificial word-centered focus. My research seeks to reveal how we (learn to) communicate before and beyond words.

  • How do we represent and combine communicative signals from the different senses?
  • How do we use these multimodal signals to exchange meanings and intentions?

Combining cognitive, computational and developmental neuroscience, I aim to understand how multimodal communication is computed by the mind and implemented in the brain. At the societal level, I aim to remove social barriers and foster inclusivity across the lifespan by promoting new multisensory technological solutions, evidence-based education and rehabilitation.
